IBBA Executive Vice President, Dr. Tommy Perkins and the Board of Directors announced that, effective, March 15th, 2019, Dr. Perkins is leaving to start the next chapter of his career. Over the past five years, Dr. Perkins has helped create a culture of mutual respect, collaboration and progressive innovation within the IBBA, the beef industry, the agriculture industry and beyond.

“This is a great loss for us, but we can only respect his decision and wish him the best,” IBBA President Doyle Miller stated. “Since his joining the IBBA in 2013, Dr. Perkins has been a valuable leader and member of our team. His contribution was essential to our success. He will be missed.”

We are sad to see him leave but we are grateful for his tireless efforts in continuing to help improve and grow the IBBA. Dr. Perkins envisioned and managed great change throughout the association by creating successful collaboration between members, staff and industry experts.

“I appreciate the opportunity afforded me the past five years, to lead the association,” Dr. Perkins said. “We have made great strides because of the outstanding leadership at the committee and satellite level as well as the board and staff. I am thankful for the supportive membership which more often than not, bought into the ideas presented to them. The friendships along the way will be cherished forever.”

Throughout his five-year tenure, Dr. Perkins led the charge in overcoming several challenges including genetic conditions affecting our cattle, the need for a new office building and much more. He is to be credited with encouraging our capable breeders to come together in order to solve whatever issues they may face and as a result, become leaders at the forefront of the beef cattle industry.

We want to thank Dr. Perkins for setting a high standard of work ethic, innovative thinking, compassion and leadership. We know it will be a difficult journey en route to finding a worthy replacement. However; the Board of Directors has formed a search committee to fill his vacancy. They are in the process of accepting applications and evaluating potential candidates.

President Miller and staff ask you all to please join us during the Annual Meeting and Convention in San Antonio, February 7th-9th and take the opportunity to say farewell and thank Dr. Perkins for his dedication and efforts over the years.
